Generic Name: Valdecoxib

Use

Valdy (Generic Valdecoxib) is approved to treat the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis (OA), adult rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and the treatment of pain associated with menstrual cramping. This drug works by blocking the enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain and swelling. It does not inhibit cyclooxygenase-1, which supposedly makes it easier on the stomach than traditional NSAIDs.

Dosage

Valdiy (Generic Valdecoxib) is a once-daily treatment in an oral table formulation. Your doctor will advise you of how much you need to take for your condition.

Side effects

Some side effects that could occur are dyspepsia, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. If you experience more side effects from this medication, please see your doctor.

Precautions

Do not take Valdy (Generic Valdecoxib) if you have had an allergic reaction to aspirin or other NSAID. Valdy (Generic Valdecoxib) should be avoided in those with a history of peptic ulcer or GI bleeding. The effects of Valdy (Generic Valdecoxib) have not been studied in children. It should NOT be used in the third trimester of pregnancy. It is not known if Valdy (Generic Valdecoxib) is excreted in breast milk. It should not be taken by nursing mothers. Valdy (Generic Valdecoxib) can increase the effect of anti-coagulants. Bextra should not be taken with any other NSAIDs.
